Wolverines on 3.395
When twilight hums and signals rise,
Across the bands beneath daily skies,
A chorus of voices — sharp and keen —
Awakens the net… the Wolverines.
On 3.935 they gather near,
Where hearts and hobbies meet sincere.
To share ideas, to laugh, to learn,
Each QSO — a friendly turn.
The net controls, with steady tone,
Guide the call signs without a groan.
While volunteers keep spirits high,
Their time — a gift that money can’t buy.
And in the log, with gracious hand,
Doris and Tas together stand.
With Tas, the Grand Puba, leading true,
Rewarding all… the things they do.
Through static hiss and fading sound,
Here a brotherhood of friends is found.
For every ham who tunes between,
Finds home… among the Wolverines.
For Those Who Served
They walked the line where courage lives,
Across the sea, beneath the sky
Marines who charged through fear and fire,
With steadfast hearts that never lie.
Coast Guard watch in silent storms,
Rescue lit by steady hands
They keep our harbors safe and sound,
Protecting home and cherished lands.
Sailors riding restless waves,
Guardians of the ocean’s roar
They crossed horizons wide and deep,
So peace could reach every shore.
From the Navy’s bravest ranks,
SEALs rise where danger dares to climb.
Through silent nights and hidden tides,
They strike with skill, precise and prime.
Sea, Air, and Land, each step they take
Defends our freedom, line by line.
Soldiers march in foreign dust,
Boots that know both grief and pride
They hold the dreams of those at home,
And keep our flag standing wide.
And Green Berets, the Army’s edge,
Who walk where fragile hopes remain
Through foreign lands and whispered wars,
They fight to break oppression’s chain.
Quiet professionals standing firm,
Their courage steady, true, humane
Airmen climb the boundless skies,
Wings of freedom bold and bright
They rise above the darkest clouds,
To bring us hope and guiding light.
And high above the world below,
Fighter pilots roar through sky
With lightning speed and eagle sight,
They challenge threats that rise nearby.
Guardians of the open air,
Their wings of valor never die.
For every veteran, brave and true,
Who answered when their country called
We honor all you sacrificed,
Your courage echoes, standing tall.
May gratitude be ever yours,
In every heart, in every day
For you have kept our future safe,
And freedom’s light will never fade.

Forbidden Words on the Wolverines SSB
Written by Florence Garneau
On the Wolverines net where the signals glide,
Operators gather from far and wide.
But beware, dear friend, of the words taboo—
For a slip of the tongue can get static on you.
No gloomy grumbles, no gripes on the air,
No feuding or fussing—leave troubles elsewhere.
No politics, drama, or off-topic fights,
Just clear, clean chatter on calm radio nights.
Speak kindly, speak wisely, keep language serene,
Let every exchange stay courteous and clean.
For the Wolverines SSB holds a code so fine:
Respect every voice on that warm, buzzing line.
So tune up your rig and let friendship be heard—
But mind the forbidden, off-limits word.
Keep the airwaves peaceful, the fellowship strong,
And the Wolverines net will keep humming along.
On the airwaves, under the starry skies,
The Wolverine Net, where the signal flies,
Sam, Erik, Ed, and Rusty take the lead,
David, Tas, and Doris plant the seed.
Check in, check in, let the voices blend,
From Illinois to Ohio, the stories never end,
Doris hands the awards, shining bright like gold,
In this ham radio family, the warmth never gets old.
Thirteen check-ins, Tas takes the stage,
The grand puba, wisdom of every age,
Founded in sixty, it’s a legacy,
Daily connections, setting spirits free.
In August we gather, a picnic delight,
Celebrating the members under the moonlight,
WSSBN, station of the year,
Honoring the moments we hold so dear.
Check in, check in, let the voices blend,
From Illinois to Ohio, the stories never end,
Doris hands the awards, shining bright like gold,
In this ham radio family, the warmth never gets old.
So here’s to the net, the laughter and cheer,
The Wolverine Single Sideband, forever we’ll steer.
With every transmission, our hearts intertwine,
In this world of frequencies, you’re forever mine.
